GPS Tracker: Winter records 20 winter activities – from downhill runs to dog sledding – shows pistes, cross-country trails and lifts right on the map, and reminds you in time for the last lift, bus or meeting point. For iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, including widgets.
A simulated ski day in a made-up resort, entirely in your browser. Slopes, speed, elevation and heart rate are simulated, no location is requested. In the app the values come from GPS, barometer and Apple Watch. Switch between the four views, drop photos and set a return reminder.
Pick an activity and press and hold Start. In the demo time runs 30 times faster. For downhill activities the app tells lift, run and break apart by itself.
No photos yet. Tap the camera while recording.
Pick an activity and see which stats it gets and how the app guides you to a target.
Freely assigned tags and a selectable period separate evaluations or combine everything. Tap a day to see its timeline.
The first days are examples. Recordings you save from the simulator appear first and stay in this browser only.
Enter something and open the help area. Switch GPS off: the saved data stays available. Everything stays in this browser.
Tick off what you have done. Your progress stays in this browser only.
Every activity gets its own meaningful stats – from the mode of transport for Apple Maps to the right evaluation afterwards.
Downhill runs, vertical, lift detection.
Distance, speed and ascent take center stage.
Flat tracks, pure speed and duration.
The three groups roughly sort the activities by type of movement and stats – they are not a difficulty rating.
Whether a destination is set in advance or not – both ways are protected against crashes and empty batteries and automatically restore an interrupted recording.
A destination is already set. GPS Tracker: Winter actively guides you there – including a full-screen compass view as an additional display of the same recording, with no road network needed. Ideal for the way to the meeting point, the hut or the last lift.
No destination, just go. The track is recorded wherever the day leads – along the way you can also set your own markers and photos on the route, always easy to find again on the map.
An overview of the most important features.
Speed, elevation and heart rate in real time while you ride.
Apple Maps complemented by prepared OpenStreetMap data, built into the app and usable without a signal. Pistes colored by difficulty.
The app tells them apart automatically and knows which piste or trail you are on.
One tap is enough: every photo remembers position, elevation and viewing direction and appears as a waypoint with a view cone.
Distance, duration, vertical, stops and an exportable elevation profile – calculated automatically after every ride.
The running track is saved continuously and restored automatically after a crash or an empty battery.
An additional full-screen view for destination navigation – only direction, distance and arrival time, with no road network at all.
Charts, trends, personal bests, elevation and heart rate profiles across as many trips as you like.
A day report summarizes all recordings chronologically – activity, times, pistes, trails and lifts included, exportable as a PDF.
Assign your own tags and evaluate over a selectable period together or separately.
Accommodation, last ride and emergency contacts always stay reachable, even without a GPS signal.
Remote control and second display on your wrist – measuring happens only on the iPhone.
Speed, elevation, distance and heart rate on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. The widget shows your last ride, one tap starts the next.
Heart rate and active energy optionally along for the ride, every ride also saved as a workout. Export as PDF and GPX.
Four ski days and a hiking day in the same winter vacation? Freely assigned tags and a selectable period separate both in the statistics – or combine everything. Try it yourself in the “Days & tags” tab above.
This area is always reachable – even without a GPS signal it shows the most recently saved data and contacts.
Address of a hotel, guesthouse or holiday apartment – to show someone or to navigate there directly in Apple Maps.
Last lift, last bus, the train or a meeting point – with time remaining and, if a location is saved, the distance to it.
A freely managed catalog of important contacts for emergencies, such as ski patrol, ski school or hotel.
This area is always reachable – even without a GPS signal it shows the most recently saved data and contacts. It also opens via Siri and does not replace an emergency call.
Optionally sync your data between your devices through your private iCloud. If two devices disagree, you decide in the conflict manager. Try it:
Ski day Hochalm Tag: Ski
Winter hike Tag: Hiking
Local first, iCloud optional, no tracking.
All recordings, photos and contacts are stored on your own device first.
Sync via the private CloudKit database is a choice, not a requirement – switch it on and off any time.
No backend, no third-party analytics, no AI features – not even switched off behind a toggle.
Everything else is in the privacy policy.

The app covers 20 winter activities – from skiing, snowboarding and ski touring through cross-country, snowshoeing and fat biking to ice skating, snowkiting and dog sledding. Every activity gets suitable stats and the right setting for Apple Maps.
With destination navigation GPS Tracker: Winter actively guides you to a set destination, including a full-screen compass view without any road network. With “free movement” there is no destination – the app simply records the path you cover. In both cases your track is saved and can be complemented with your own photos and markers.
The map is based on Apple Maps, complemented by prepared OpenStreetMap data for pistes, trails and lifts – with correct ODbL attribution. The data is built into the app and works without a signal. How complete a resort is depends on OpenStreetMap.
The running track is saved continuously. After an app crash or an empty battery, GPS Tracker: Winter automatically restores an interrupted recording.
This area bundles the saved accommodation, the last ride (lift, bus, train or meeting point) with time remaining and your emergency contacts. It stays reachable at all times and shows the most recently saved data even without a GPS signal. It does not replace an emergency call.
Your data stays on your device at first. Optionally you can sync it encrypted between your Apple devices through your own private iCloud. There is no backend and no third-party analytics.
The app runs on iPhone and iPad, including support for Apple Watch, Home Screen widgets, Live Activity and Apple Health.
The day report summarizes all recordings of a day chronologically – even several activities in a row, each with times, distance, vertical and the pistes, trails and lifts you used. It can be exported and shared directly as a PDF.
GPS Tracker: Winter costs a one-time €2.99 – no subscription, no in-app purchases. All features are available right away.
