Hit the slopes before you download the app

A simulated ski day in a made-up resort that runs entirely in your browser. Slopes, speed, altitude and heart rate are simulated, no location is requested. In the app the slope data comes from 36 regions and the values from GPS, the barometer and Apple Health (heart rate, also from Apple Watch). The simulator is simplified: the time-lapse, the choice of the next slope and the button to stand still do not exist in the app.

A ski day you can touch

Pick a sport and press and hold Start. In the demo time runs 30 times faster. Pick the next slope above and watch how the app tells lift, run and break apart.

How it works in the app: Start, pause and stop need a short press and hold, so nothing happens by accident with gloves on or in your jacket pocket. You turn on automatic voice announcements in the app under Settings › Recording; in the simulator they always appear as text.
  • Pick a different sport, the map adapts
  • Change which tiles you see
  • Start the ski day (press and hold Start)
  • Experience your first run, with slope name and difficulty
  • Stand still and wait until the automatic pause is detected
  • Ride the gondola down once: it does not count as a run
  • Take a photo on the slope
  • Have your status announced
  • Finish the ski day and save it
  • Search or filter the ski diary
  • Export a ski day as a GPX file
Done! You now know the main paths through OneTwo Ski.

Workflow

From the lift to your diary

A workflow that fits in your jacket pocket.

Pick a sport

Skiing, snowboarding or cross-country. Each sport brings its own stats.

Area and map

Pick an area in the Map tab; near an area, the app suggests it by itself. Slopes, trails, lifts and gondolas are already in the app.

Ski

Press and hold Start, that is it. The app detects runs, lifts and breaks by itself. Recording keeps running in the background.

Diary

All ski days in the Activities tab, with tags, color tags, filter and search. Optionally as a workout in Apple Health or as a GPX file.

Sports

Skiing, snowboarding and cross-country

OneTwo Ski is lean on purpose: three sports, each with its own stats.

Skiing

  • Slopes colored by difficulty
  • Runs, lifts and vertical detected automatically
  • Current slope with name and difficulty

Snowboarding

  • The same slope map and detection
  • Its own tiles just for snowboarding
  • Photos with viewing direction on the map

Cross-country

  • Trails instead of slopes on the map
  • Its own stats for cross-country
  • Distance, time and altitude in your diary

What the app records

DistanceDurationMoving timeBreak timeSpeedTop speedAltitudeVerticalRunsLiftsHeart rate

The app counts runs and lifts only for skiing and snowboarding. Heart rate appears only with access to Apple Health. Missing values show as “–”, never as 0.

Slopes and map

The ski area in your pocket

The slope data is part of the app and works without a signal. Apple’s base map needs a connection and is limited without one; satellite and hybrid are online only.

36 regions, even offline

Slopes, trails, lifts and gondolas from 36 regions worldwide are built right into the app.

The right map for your sport

Slopes colored by difficulty. For cross-country you see trails, for skiing and snowboarding slopes and lifts.

Current slope

The app shows which slope or trail you are on, with name and difficulty, once you have chosen an area on the map.

Area suggested

You pick an area in the Map tab. Near an area, the app suggests it by itself.

Map follows you

While recording it turns with your heading, keeps north up or shows the whole route, in standard, satellite or hybrid style.

Trail data: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). The information may be incomplete or out of date and says nothing about whether a slope or lift is open.

Detection

Runs, lifts and breaks are detected by the app

You do not have to switch anything. The app splits your day into runs, lift rides and breaks automatically.

  • Lift ride
  • Run
  • Break
  • Gondola down, does not count as a run
Photos

Photos with viewing direction

Take photos with the built-in camera without leaving your recording, with flash, zoom and camera switching.

  • Each photo appears on the map exactly where you took it, including the direction you were facing
  • Stored in the app, optionally also as an original in the Photos app (switch “Original to Photos”)
  • Photos can be synced through your private iCloud
On the go

Made for gloves

On the mountain it matters that nothing happens by accident and nothing gets lost.

Press and hold, not tapStart, pause and stop with a short press and hold. An accidental tap in your jacket pocket ends nothing.
Runs in the backgroundRecording keeps running with the iPhone locked. After a crash or restart it is restored with all points so far the next time you open the app.
Voice announcementsAt the push of a button, any time, with time, distance, duration and top speed. Automatically if you turn it on in Settings: after each run, per kilometer for cross-country, after a pause and after saving.
Big speedYour speed large at the top, tiles below that you set per sport.
Camera includedFlash, zoom and camera switching without leaving your recording.
Widget and Live ActivityOne tap on the widget opens the app and asks whether to start recording. The status appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

  • Apple Health: read heart rate, save ski days as workouts
  • From iOS 18

Apple Watch

  • Part of the same app
  • From watchOS 11

Version 1.0 comes for iPhone and Apple Watch, without a dedicated iPad or Mac version.

Health and iCloud

Optional, and you decide on conflicts

If you like, the app syncs activities, photos and settings through iCloud. If an activity was changed on two devices, the conflict manager lets you decide which version applies (this device, iCloud or keep both); until then both are kept. For settings, the newer change wins. Simplified simulation:

Changed on device 1
Powder on Saturday
Tag: Powder
Changed on device 2
Family day on Saturday
Tag: Family

Apple Health

With your permission the app reads your heart rate and saves ski days as workouts.

Local without iCloud

Everything stays on your device if you do not turn on sync.

Heart rate stays on the device

Heart rate values are not synced.

Privacy

Your ski days stay yours

No account, no tracking

No ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. No data is sent to the developer.

Location only with your permission

In the background, location runs only while a recording you started is running or paused. In the foreground the app also uses your location for the map.

Your own iCloud

Optional sync uses your private iCloud database only.

Everything else is in the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

?What is OneTwo Ski?

A GPS tracker for skiing, snowboarding and cross-country. It detects runs, lifts and breaks, knows slopes and trails and keeps a ski diary. On the Home Screen the app is called “12 Ski”.

?Does the map work without a signal?

The slope data for 36 regions worldwide is built into the app. You see slopes, trails, lifts and gondolas even without a signal. Apple’s base map, however, needs a connection and is limited without one; satellite and hybrid are online only.

?Does the gondola down count as a run?

No. The app recognizes a ride down in a gondola by its even speed and straight line and does not count it as a run. Detection uses altitude, speed and the slope data and can be wrong on very slow stretches or flat tow paths.

?Can I use the app with gloves on?

Yes. Start, pause and stop need a short press and hold. An accidental tap in your jacket pocket will not end your recording.

?What happens if the app crashes?

Recording keeps running with the iPhone locked. If the app is ended unexpectedly, it resumes the recording with all points so far the next time you open it.

?Can I export my ski days?

Yes, every ski day as a GPX file. If you like, the app also saves it as a workout in Apple Health.

?Is there an iPad or Mac version?

No. Version 1.0 comes for iPhone (from iOS 18) and Apple Watch (from watchOS 11), without a dedicated iPad or Mac version.

?Why does the app need location, motion, camera and Health?

Location records the route, Motion provides the barometer for more accurate altitude, the camera takes photos during a recording, Photos (add only) optionally puts a copy in the Photos app, Health reads heart rate and saves workouts. Camera, photos and Health are optional.

?Where does the slope data come from?

From OpenStreetMap. Trail data: © OpenStreetMap contributors.

?How much does the app cost?

A one-time €2.99, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. The price in the App Store at launch applies.

?When will the app be released?

There is no exact date yet. This page will be updated as soon as OneTwo Ski is available on the App Store.
